Getting here in winter

The highland routes are not serviced in winter. During the winter season, from October 1 to June 14, we can only be reached with a 4x4 super jeep.

You can reserve a seat in an unstoppable mountain-terrain coach, driven by a professional who loves to share their knowledge about this adrenalin-fueled adventure. Prepare for the ride of your life!

1 October - 14 June 2025:

• Price: ISK 14,900 per person one way

• Transfers from Reykjavík - Skógarhlíð 10 to Highland Base available on Thursdays and Fridays at 09:00

• Transfers from Skjól Basecamp to Highland Base available on Thursdays and Fridays at 10:45

• Transfers from Highland Base to Skjól Basecamp or Reykjavík on Saturdays and Sundays at 13:00

Duration from Skjól: 2,5-5 hours (depends on road conditions)

Duration from Reykjavík: 4-6 hours (depends on road conditions)

Minimum age: 8 years old

* Guests might be transported in smaller vehicles from Reykjavík to Skjól, after which they will switch to the super jeep. Sometimes, the entire journey from Reykjavík to Highland Base will be made in the same vehicle, depending on the bookings and the day's schedule.

** Located near Gullfoss, Basecamp Skjól is approximately a 1.5 hour drive from Reykjavík. You can park your car there.

• The transfer duration is subject to weather and road conditions and (may exceed 2,5 hours)

• The highland routes are not serviced during wintertime

• Expect bumpy roads

• Given the unpredictable duration of the journey, we suggest arranging departure flights at least 24 hours after check-out.
